question about HEPA filters

I read somewhere that hepa filters let out fiber glass particles, is this true?

Yeah, I've seen that claim float around A LOT lately too. Probably one way to scare people off using too much energy HAHAHA. Kidding aside, most quality HEPA filters are sealed up tight and don't shed like that. If you're buying cheap brandless filters, there's a possibility. Big brands though... they're made to trap particles. I don't think they're gonna toss them all out LOL.

I've heard this before too, but from what I know, legit HEPA filters are designed to trap particles down to 0.3 microns and not release fibers back into the air, I think the origin of the concern was with cheap knockoff filters or damaged ones

I totally get it, worrying about air quality can be really stressful. But don't worry too much, there are some great filters out there that use synthetic materials designed to release even less. By the way, do you know what type of HEPA filter you have? It might help to figure out if it's doing its job
